Community Resource Center 23rd Annual English Tea

It was an honor for Oona and me to serve tea at the 23rd annual Community Resource Center English Tea in Encinitas again this year.  I can’t say that we had the best serving skills, but we did manage to limit our pouring to the tea cups rather than the floor, lap, or table!  Oona and I enjoyed giving back to an organization that does so much for our own community here in north county San Diego.

The Community Resource Center (CRC) is a non-profit organization that has worked tirelessly since 1979 to combat homelessness, hunger, and domestic violence and to achieve their mission of, “creating paths to safety, stability, and self-sufficiency,” for individuals in our community.  The CRC offers a food and nutrition distribution center, homelessness prevention assistance, counseling, legal advocacy, and domestic violence emergency shelter.

The tea this year focused on domestic violence.  While we were serving, we listened to some inspirational stories and were amazed to learn one in four women is a victim of domestic violence and one in three girls is abused by a dating partner.  As a mother of four girls, I don’t like those odds!  Fortunately, for those in need, the CRC offers a safe refuge for victims of domestic violence in their 24 bed facility, Carol’s House, where they are welcome to stay 45-60 days.  They also provide transitional housing at a reduced rental rate as well as a Therapeutic Children’s Center.

The CRC is a wonderful cause to support, so don’t hesitate to give back as the CRC has given to so many.  For more information, please visit http://crcncc.org/

Again, it was an honor and privilege for us to serve at the tea this year.  Many thanks to the CRC for making such tremendous difference in our community.

xo,

Inger
